Continuing my dedication to plein air painting around New York City, I found the day that I had waited for. Free of obligation and warm, not windy, a cheery winter morning.
For some reason, I have been feeling very purple lately.π maybe itβs the holidays or the chill in the air but, violet has been a recent theme.
Wanting more purple in my palette I set my mind to locations around the city that would give me the cool shade of violet I craved. My mind immediately set to a beautiful Queen Anne style townhouse on the upper West side that I have walked by many many times over the years. I have always admired this beautiful row of townhomes on 101st St. between Broadway and West End Ave., one of which, has always been painted a lovely shade of violet.

It was the morning of December 16th, 2021. I packed my supplies in my backpack and grabbed a 12 x 16β canvas headed out the door. A short ride on the 1 train from my lovely Harlem neighborhood down to the Upper West Side. I set up and began to my to do my work on a blank canvas.
